Details of the Case

The plaintiff slipped and fell on the defendant’s commercial property as a result of oil leaking from a barrel within the warehouse. After initial efforts at conservative treatment to treat his knee injury, he underwent a meniscectomy and then knee replacement surgery. The knee replacement failed necessitating a second knee replacement surgery during which his peroneal nerve was injured causing unrelenting complex regional pain syndrome which made his leg feel like it was on fire. After lengthy litigation against the owner of the warehouse and two mediation sessions by two different mediators the case resolved shortly before the scheduled trial date for $2.4M.
