Marc Breakstone has established a reputation as one of the top medical malpractice and personal injury lawyers in Massachusetts. His consistently record-setting settlements and verdicts have earned him the distinction of being selected a “Top 100 Super Lawyer in Massachusetts” in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He has also been selected a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the Medical Practice field in Massachusetts from 2004 through 2008.
In 2002, Mr. Breakstone was selected a “Lawyer of the Year” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly following a record recovery of over $10 million for the family of a toddler severely brain-damaged by paramedic negligence. In 2001, he and partner David White recovered a record-setting $7.5 million for the family of an infant brain-damaged by anesthesia malpractice.
He has consistently maintained an AV rating — the highest rating for legal ability and professional standards — from Martindale Hubbell, the leading national registry of attorneys.
Mr. Breakstone has been a featured speaker to lawyers and law students regarding trial techniques and medical malpractice law. He has chaired or spoken on programs including “MCLE Medical Malpractice Update”, “Introducing Evidence”, “Demonstrative Evidence at Trial”, ““Advanced Deposition Workshop,” and “Starting Your own Law Firm,” to name a few. He has been a lecturer at Northeastern University School of Law, Boston University Law School and Suffolk University Law School.
He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys for the past 15 years and is actively leading campaigns to reform the jury selection system in Massachusetts.
A 1981 graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Breakstone received his Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 1986. He holds licenses to practice in the state and federal courts in Massachusetts and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a founding member of the Board of Northeastern University School of Law “Loan Deferral/Loan Forgiveness” Program.
