Heather joined the firm in the spring of 2005 as an associate,
concentrating her practice in personal injury and professional liability
litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. Heather graduated from Colby College with a
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1997. In 2005, Heather completed a dual
degree program, receiving her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School
of Law and her Master of Public Health from Tufts University. Heather is a
member of the Women’s Bar Association (WBA), the Massachusetts Bar Association
(MBA), and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA) and the
Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA).
After graduating
from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1997, and prior to entering the legal
field, Heather worked as a Research Assistant at the Massachusetts General
Hospital in a laboratory studying genetic causes for Lou Gerhig’s disease and
muscular dystrophies.
During law school
Heather served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Tauro at the Federal
District Court in Boston, the firms Motley Rice (Providence, Rhode Island) and
Thornton & Naumes (Boston, Massachusetts), and the Family Advocacy Program at
the Boston Medical Center, which provides legal services to low-income children
whose legal issues adversely affect their health.
Heather’s public
health degree and science background make her uniquely qualified to work on
medical malpractice and personal injury cases, by providing her with an
expertise in statistics, epidemiology, biology, and science, as well as quality
of care and patient safety issues. This education allows Heather to understand
and analyze the medical and scientific literature and patient medical records.
Heather is an
active volunteer at the Women’s Bar Association and was elected to the WBA Board
of Directors in 2008. Heather has served on the WBA Gala fundraising committee
and the WBA New Lawyers Committee since 2005. She is also an active member of
the Massachusetts Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
Heather was named
a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2007.
