| Details of the Case |
Plaintiff, a 25-year-old woman, was the
driver of a car which was struck by another car that had sped through a
stop sign. As a result of the crash, the plaintiff sustained multiple
personal injuries, including an open dislocation fracture of the left
ankle and depressed right lateral tibial plateau fracture. She underwent
surgery to insert screws into her ankle and hardware into her knee. In
addition, her injuries necessitated multiple ankle fusions, knee
surgeries, and it is expected she will require a total knee replacement.
Prior to the accident, plaintiff maintained a full-time job and planned
to open her own business. As a result of her injuries, plaintiff is
limited to working part-time from her home. The settlement included a
claim for loss of spousal consortium on behalf of plaintiff’s husband’s
due to plaintiff’s multiple injuries.
